The mango grove at the village of Baidyanathtala in Meherpur, from where the Proclamation of Independence was announced on 10th April 1971. Baidyanathtala was renamed Mujibnagar after the proclamation. The then Bangladesh Government held a formal inauguration ceremony and the meeting of the constituent assembly was also held on 17th April 1971 at Mujibnagar.
